Default LS2 cam swap in progress... Please help with timing chain issue!

So without thinking about there being any differences I pulled my LS2 apart. Turns out the timing setup uses that black (dampener) piece. Well needless to say it gets DIRECTLY in the way. How have you fellas done your cam swaps WITHOUT pulling the oil pump off...

I saw a write up about marking the dot from the cam gear on the black piece and then just lining them back up again (assuming that its stock and the dots line up when the cam indicator is pointing straight down).

Please let me know ASAP!

Thanks,
Doug

Doug,

The only problem with just marking the black piece is....if the crank is moved at anytime during the install....just mark the crank's location too
