Default Oil Pressure issues....

Before I get the usual, "just do a search"...I did. I'm at a loss for options. I need a second set of eyes per-say. Here is the deal.

Stock bottom end 6 liter. ZERO oil pressure, not even a little bit, even after priming the pump, and cranking without coil packs plugged in.

-New GM LS6 oil pump
-Barbell is installed correctly in the rear
-O-ring is new at the pump
-I used an LS pick-up, and pan (clearance shouldn't be an issue).
-Bypass valve in the pump is closed
-Pulled the front cover off. Pulled the plate off the pump, its full of oil.
-Pulled the valve cover on the drivers side, bone dry.

What is left to look at? I'm stuck and frustrated!

I had a simular problem that turned out to be the O-ring on the pick up tube, I had installed a new one but it still was leaking air. What I have done sence then is use a little hi temp rtv around the pickup tube, just a little and put it above the o-ring so that no rtv goes into the oil pump it just seals the rib on the pickup tube to the edge of the pump. I still used a o ring with the rtv, It has worked great on 2 of my engines now!

If that dosen't work mesure the clearance between the pickup and the pan!!

Best of Luck to you!!

Make sure you didn't punch the o-ring while installing the pickup tube.

Did you crank it for long enough? It takes time.

It could be your pump.

Last but not least, don't start it or you will damage your bearings.
