What size Pushrods would i need Switching from stock LS2 lifter to LS7 lifters ?

Arrow What size Pushrods would i need Switching from stock LS2 lifter to LS7 lifters ?

if i am running a Ls2 402cid motor with LS7 lifters will my Comp cams 7.400 pushrods be ok ? would would i need a different lenght pushrod ? i was using the stock Lifters that cam in the 2005 LS2 engine , and now that im going to a 402cid engine , im using the LS7 lifters , with Patriot Stage 3 Heads with 64cc heads and Stock Ls2 Rocker arms for the mean while , what size push rods would i need ?

There is no difference in pushrod length from LS1, LS2, LS7 lifters etc...

you really need to measure, but it is best to be a tad long than a tad short...

Question

whats the best way to measure ? with a dial indicator ? the pushrods i have are comp cams 7.400 5/16" but wasnt sure what it was i needed for sure .. just double checking .

Question how to figure out correct preload on lifters ?

how do you figure out the right preload the lifters need when the Stock rocker arms / bolts have to be torqued to 22ftlbs , im lost here !! someone help me out ?

every motor is different- otherwise, its called a CRATE motor.

You have to measure. The tutorials are on the Crane and Comp Cam web sites.

whats the best way to measure preload on a lifter with a non adjustable rocker at ? Stock ls1/ls2 rocker arms ? how do you figure out the preload whats the best method to measure the preload ?

You can't measure preload with a stock rocker system-- You just torque and PRAY. That's the problem with the stock, or any non-adjustable rocker. But you can check the pushrod lengths to make sure they are in the ballpark, and hitting the valve tips in the sweetspot.

You may still need to buy the CompCam $20 HiTech pushrod checker- if your pushrod length is not correct.

The only reason i know this is that I've been dealing and researching this the entire week.
