Default Head Comparison

I went thru and put together some head flow information for a number of heads. I would like to get some input on the results? The Flow was taken from a number of sponsor sites.

Looks like TEA Stage III are very good for the price, when looking at area under the curve for flow from .100 to .006

Is this the most important thing to look at when looking for Heads? If not what else should I compare.

There is more to it than just flow numbers. If your running an all out drag car then it doesn't matter, the more flow the merrier because your leaving the line at 5000 rpms or something. In a street car this translates to trapping 108 with a h/c full weight car... PATHETIC.

You need to match you heads to your needs. Do yourself a favor and call TEA and let them explain it to you.

Great post.....

I have a set of heads on my "streetcar" that flow north of 360cfm..... they suck on motor due to the lack of port velocity due to the size of the intake runners and intake valves. Hopefully they will kick *** on the bottle.

So would a 225cc runner 2.04 intake valve LS6 head suck on a 346 with my 233/239 cam N/A? Or will it be good for 3k+ rpm?

It's too bad flow numbers don't always indicate how well heads will perform. A running engine and a static flow bench are 2 entirely different animals. And wanting more flow at .100 ? Well.. you're kinda backwards on that if you're going to run a cam with any kind of overlap. If anything I would start at .200 and up.

Here's another one for you.. what bore size were all of these flowed on? That will change the numbers if they were flowed on a 4" or 4.125" bore and you want to put them on a stock 3.9"

No, it isn't.

I would rather know valve size, location, valve length, port floor and roof height, port entrance height, port cross section, port shape, valve and seat angles, combustion chamber shape and plug location all BEFORE I worried about flow.
