Default 2004 GTO #'s

Gm has stated that the Holden Monaro's 5.7L is producing 302hp and 339 ft/lbs torque. They also said That the GTO's LS1 will be tweaked closer to 350hp and equiped with either an Auto Tranny or 6 speed with shift skip, allowing you to shift from 1st to 3rd and 3rd to 5th under moderate exceleration. Holden will produce 18,000 cars per year. The Monaro currently sells in Aussie for $38,000US and will be subject to a gas guzzler tariff. The only US car subject to this tariff to date is the Viper w/ a $3000 tariff. <img border="0" alt="[Banging Head]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_banghead.gif" />

That's funny, allowing to be forced to skip gears.

I guess the Monaro is much heavier than the FBody then? Why else gas guzzler?

I hope this thing sells well enough to justify some kind of Commodore or other such 4 door variant...

The Corvette was not subjected to the tax because of gas mileage i believe. The Viper and Cadillac Allante were subjected though

Just a note....

SUV's , Trucks and cars are rated differently for this tax, hence the Excursion=no tax (

That is actually not correct the GTO is going to not have skip shift and that is what is going to cause the GTO to have a gas guzzler tax added to its price. The only reason why GM put that feature on the F-Bodies was so they didn't incur a gas guzzler tax as well.
