Default Budget build

So i got a free rx7 body straight and rust free. Then i picked up a motor that a friends neighbor had sitting in his yard for a few months. I found out i had an ls1 and got excited till i tore it down and found out a rod had snapped and chewed up alot of the low end. So i dont know much about sbc or v8s in general. But i know when a motor is done. I salvaged the heads and a few other parts.
Now im looking for a new core without breaking the bank. I was told to look into lm7s and other truck motors. I want to know about the cost of these swaps and ways to make the process cheaper. Thanks for any help

I'm doing a 5.3 swap in my 95 TA right now. I don't know what your plans are for the car is. But the 5.3's are great foundations. And you can get them cheap. I got a completet motor with 20,000 miles on it for $500.

With a cam swap and other bolt on's these motors make real good power.

Yeah you can find 5.3 from $200-600 it all depends what conditions their in. If ur tring 2 save some money a 5.3 will do a good job.

A 5.3 can be cheap but so can a lq4 6.0. Don't exhaust your options so quickly i would try to find a 6.0 they are pretty easy to find.

Are there any reputable sources for either of these motors. At my budgeting im looking at a used motor, and bad motors arent cheap
EDIT: Also any info on a weight comparison
