I've been out of the engine building scene for 20 years. I've built 3 Chevy 350s. The last one still sits in my father's garage waiting for a 55 truck. I'm having doubts he'll ever actually use it. I too have a project in a coma, a 95 caprice with the 4.3L v8 that needs to be replaced. I've got a new LT4 short block on the engine stand, just never find time to work on it.

I registered here because I need to get up to speed on the LSx engines. I've been reading about them for years, but my truck engine is showing it's age and needs to be replaced. I want something bigger than the 5.3L but no desire for a 7.0L or the gas it would consume. I could replace the whole truck but a new engine would be more cost effective and likely more satisfying.

For this truck engine, I will likely pay someone to put it together, but I still want to chose the parts.
