hey everyone I am new here. I have a 81 firebird I am planning to do a swap to these new to me ls based engines. Hopefully I can get some help from you guys as this is a budget minded build and would rather do it right the first time....as for that I am looking at a lq9/4l60 combo..what are your thoughts and where is the correct place in the forum to ask about lq9 builds?

welcome to site. you will get more response from conversion/hybrid or motor sections. far as I know of a 4L60E didnt come on a LQ9 just 4L80E. your cheapest and easiest way of converting car is to buy a complete donor vehicle. All the small stuff adds up fast.

whats your wiring plans? I used LT1Swap.com for doing my own truck harness. wasnt hard but time consuming. I have more time than money so worked out well for me. I believe 4L60E & 4L80E have wires on tranny plug needs changed. My fuel system I bought a new replacement tank & fuel pump assembly modify tank to take pump assembly. I recessed top of tank and built a 6x6 4 inch deep box for bottom of tank. Pump sits in the box area so shouldnt run into any problems as its the lowest part of tank.
