thanks guys, have had mixed responses on car running or not starting at all, it gives me hope that it is that, plus I have a new crank pos. sensor also.
i was told 98 would not run 99+ would run then die. So i have my fingers crossed thats what it is. car turns over VERY smoothly, builds 50ish* oil pressure too.

On the fbodies as long as the pellet id for the vats key matches the value stored in the bcm the VIN on the engine computer is irrelevant and the engine will start correctly.. The f-bodues do not use a serial data type PASSLOCK system. The only time the vin in pcm has to match the the vin stored in the BCM is if the vehicle uses serial data VATS system like the PASSLOCK II used on the 99 up chevy pickups. Even then the VINS can differ as long as the VIN programed in the PCM is the same year Model as the BCM. The theft enable codes change from year to year.
