Default Engine Swap inspection dilema

hello everybody, my name is jeff. i have a 96 z28 that i want to swap an ls1 into. the only concern i have is passing inspection since i would be scanning a reg. for a lt1 but would be hooking up to the machine with an ls1 computer. is there something i need to do to make this work or am i screwed. by the way i live in ny. any help would be greatly appreciated.

You should be fine. If NY is like PA and they just plug it in i dont think they can tell what year all that is. Your car is OBDII anyway. You should be ok.

Be careful, in some states the vin is in the computer and changing computers means the car has the wrong #'s now. The computer may have to be reflashed with the right vin. It is that way in Ma now.
