Chevrolet Camaro 1967-2002 - what is this part????

In the rear of my 2000 camaro i have whick looks like the factory amp?

It is where the spare tire and jack go right inside the right rear quarter. What is it ? an amp?

Can i remove it an till have a working factory radio?

I have one on the left side, it is like an AMP an SUB all in one.

Thanks for the info. I only have the two rear speaker and the pass door speaker. Works for me. the two subs that are in the middle are gone so if i don't need this unit it will remove it.
