I thought I saw this same thread yesterday. The answer is yes, and I think it's good insurance to change them out as well as the lifters while the heads are off. A new set of lifters is just over $100 and the lifter trays are less than $50.

Just curious, but does anyone know the difference between the LS1 & LS2 lifter trays? I'm about to pick up a set, and didn't know there was a difference. I figured either would work since the LS7 lifters fit, and are now the stock relpacements (like the LS2 timing chain).

The same lifters will work with the LS1 or LS2 lifter trays. The LS2 trays have a notch in them that match the LS2 block whereas the LS1 trays do not. The LS2 trays will work just fine in an LS1, but the LS1 trays will not work in an LS2.

I hope this helps.
