Default Anouther Greg Weld Wheel Thread! WARNING!

First I see so many post about these wheels.
So I elected to post a thread about the problem.

This is a problem I had.
It is a design problem is with wheels that have more than 3.5inch of back space.

This was a problem with 15X8 wheel with 5.5 back space and GM disc brake clearance problem.
Greg Weld Model 93 & 92 are the same way!

This problem was several months ago and were purchased from Summit Racing.
Summit Racing went above and beyond to help me and solve this problem.

Problem:
Buyer beware!

15X8 inch Wheels with 5.5 backspace are made wrong!

I have Standard MPB Rear disc brakes, same found on your late model cars.

Greg Weld over several phone calls do not have a clue!
(And they lied about the lugs nuts also)

They will not clear factor brakes.
Also have a friend with a 70 Impala and they would not clear his fined brake drums!

THE 15 inch wheel is made wrong!
The inside dia is small.

The WELD RACING wheels fit fine.

There is a lot to this story.
And SUMMIT! Saved my "A"!

All I can say is pre-test these wheels before you mount the tires. And make sure you bolt them down flush for the check. If you rear disc have a brake leaver for emergency brake check those also.

I had "NO" issues and the other manufactures of the same size Wheel!

Thanks
AL Smith

PS: they said the lug nuts I had for my Current Weld Racing wheels would not work.
They were the same!

Weird. We have a customer with a 84 monte carlo who used the 15x8 5.5 backspace on his stock rear end with no issues. I also used my 12mm WELD lug nuts that I had used on my Weld Draglites, with my Greg Welds, and had no issue. But good to know! Seems like the rears are having all sorts of issues!

from that picture it looks like a reverse mount rim. in that case it wasnt made wrong it just doesnt clear your brakes.
