WTB: '98 stock F-body LS1 exhaust manifolds
Subject says it all. Will trade straight up for the '99s I have right now (from a 28K mile engine) or buy outright. My '99s have clearance issues with the swap I'm doing and I'm told the '98s might work better. (Not interested in any other years.) Let me know what you've got and how much you want for 'em. Not willing to pay an arm and a leg; just experimenting, mostly.

Waste of time. the 99 manifolds are the same as the 98. 2000 was the change in manifolds. They are a cast iron setup, where as the 98-99 mani's were stainless.

I was told that '98 and '99 were different from each other as well as different from '2000+. This was by people who have specifically sought out '98s for swaps because of clearance issues like mine.
However ... I am including a pic of a '98 I was sent earlier tonight (top) and my '99 (bottom) and I'll be damned if I can see a difference. Anyone?

Truck would be even worse. It's hitting on the bottom between the middle two cylinders (on the driver's side). If I had different engine stands it likely wouldn't be an issue, but I'm not exactly jumping with joy at the thought of dropping another $235 for a different set of #@$^% engine stands. (This is my '72 Chevy shortbed project.) My CPP stands come up an inch or two above the frame rail, whereas the ECE stands go straight down like GM intended. Looks like I'll be going with some Doug Thorley headers in the spring....

There was a guy on here somewhere in the ls parts for sale that had a really decent priced set of mac mid length for an f-body. I bet for sure they would fit and give you a little advantage on the flow side of things as well..You might want to take a look. It might even be right here in parts wanted a post for a guy that was looking for longtubes. Maybe that will help you out. I love C-10's what does the rest of you setup consist of? Pro street, Pro touring, Lowrider what direction is your build taking?

the 98-99 are suspose to be the same i dont have a book to run the p/n's but iv been told ,
plus i think you want these becuase the flange can be cut off and a extension or pipe can be welded to it since its stainless or sheet metal ,
but i also need a set , does any body else have a set ? headers for my swap cost 210 $ so i dont wanna pay more than 50 $ shipped any body ?
but the 99 and 98's are the same just called a dealer , but do you still wanna get that guys thats paying it forward and just sell me yours ?

also did you mod that picture of your c10 i mean your avatar i never seen a c10 with the steering wheel on the right side ,

It appears that info is wrong, unfortunately and almost caused me to buy another set of manifolds that won't fit (because they're the same as I already have). Thanks to those who have helped me get the correct info!
As for the photo in my avatar, if you look at it you'll see the pic is of the outside rearview mirror in my '03 Durango R/T. Took it on the highway when I was bringing the '66 home from Indiana. Mirror = reversed image.

I tried both the stock '99 exhaust manifolds and my Hooker LTs and they both won't clear the CPP motor stands. Now I'm looking at the Doug Thorley headers that are made specifically for this application. Either that or (and?) the LS1 engine stand setup from ECE, which shouldn't have these clearance problems.

Do you have a pic of it with the stock manifold up there. From the looks of where a truck manifold dumps it would bolt right up instead of the f-body that start to merge between the 2-4, truck manifolds are a straight shot accross the bottom. Looks like way to clean a build to run cast iron on anyways.

I don't have a pic, but it's the same problem on the passenger side with the F-body manifold, which does go straight back before merging and dumping down. I think I'm gonna end up going with different engine stands after I get a couple more paychecks under my belt. (Just started a new job a couple weeks ago.)
