DYNO STOCK 10bolt VS. DANA S60 I have the answer
So how much really is lost at the tires when dropping a S60 Into your cars rear! Well I just did this an Speedinc was Kind enough to test it out for all of us!!!! Thanks Larry!!!!!!
PS. Just so everyone Knows I gained it all back plus a couple extra HP/TQ just by adding a cut out. 413/366 is with S60 and open cutout
Stock 10bolt 3.42s w ls1 alum DS Vs. Dana S60 ,true track, 35 spline, 4.10s and CM DS cut out closed both runs
It only lost 13.57rwhp and 12.38rwtq

Now that cant happen! The last time it was at the track the car was basically stock and put out 280/317. I did alot of work as you can see since its putting 413/366 now.
It wont be a fair comparison.
Besides I switched from 3.42 to 4.10s and that also in not a fair comparison
The Dyno Is the best way to show power loss and the dyno was done this morning!!
Only way to test it accurately at the track would be to do the swap and runs at the track on the same day with the same gearing.
A spool would be even less loss to the tires

Putting more weight over the rear wheels pays for itself though. I had a customer that gained ET when we changed from a 10 bolt with a 4.10 to a 9 inch with 4.11, car hooked better and he didn't loose any MPH.

I think the gear change plays a part in this as well, unless we get a I went from 4.10 10 bolt to 4.10 9 inch (or 4.11) we aren't completely ruling out the full effect. I do admit though that increased rotational mass will inevitably lead to a loss, as on a dyno, the real added weight the dyno will see is in the increased gear size, differential and axles. I can imagine shaving off weight in the drivetrain like a twin disc clutch and aluminum flywheel and carbon fibre driveshaft could easily offset the weight added to the drivetrain.

I didn't loose any MPH going from a 10 bolt with 3.42s to a spooled 9" with 4.11s, even added a BMR TA & steel 3" driveshaft, either way you look at it, the added weight is well worth the insurance, & in the long run, your not looseing much, but your gaining alot IMO.
