Default I have a question about the mass air flow sensor

How do people remove it on LT1s and TPI's where they can just put a K&N air filter on the throttle body with out the mass air flow sensor, and the check engine light wont come on? I asked i guy that i saw had it on a 90 Trans am, and he said you can only do it one 90 to 92 tpi's. Is that the case?

It depends on the year of your car. 95 and under you can do because it is a dyno test and it wont matter if the check engine light comes on. As for me i have a 96 so if i remove it the check engine light will come on and it will automaticly fail emissions.

You have to change over to speed density from mass air.Which means it measures the air flow after the throttle body instead of before it.

The MAF can not be removed on a car eqpt. unless tuned for it. The LT1 car from 94-97 all had MAF's and though we have not tuned SD ( no MAF ) it can be done with some patience from what I understand.

mainly this is done for very large cams or FI application running 2 bar MAP sensors

curious why you would want to remove the MAF?

well i was just curious to see why people do that, and to hear what some of you might have to say since im sure there's people on here with more experience then a 22 year old. I just saw some guy at my school with his 90 tpi t.a. and he had the k&n filter on the throttle body, and i asked him is my brother able to do that cuz he has a 88 iroc-z, and he said its only from 90 to 92 thats the computer is set up to remove the m.a.f. sensor. And i thought he was bullshitting me. Also cuz i've been thinking about getting one of those m.a.f. sensors and an elbow from summit for my lt1. Also yea my car is a 94 and it runs like **** with out the m.a.f. too
