8.8 Ford rear custom swap in 01 Firehawk?
Any of you guys hear of fbody guys making this swap? From what Ive heard it is more popular than I thought and a strong and lighter option than the 9 inch or 12 bolt swap. What do you think and if any of you have done it, How is it?

from what i understand those 8.8 rears aren't great unless they're built..... i mean i dont exactly hang with the stang boys, but the nine inch is by far a better rear, IMO if i was going to do the work to do the swap i would swap for the nine inch instead of the 8.8

The 8.8 will last just as long in a car when it is braced and axle tubes are welded as a 9 inch. If both have the same parts in them. The nine inch is used in drag racing by the fast cars more becuase there are pro gear sets. A 8.8 you just have the usual 3.55, 3.73, 3.90, 4.10, and so on. With a 9 inch there are a lot more gear sets to be had and used.
