408 N/A Build.. What Heads??
What heads for my 408?
TSP Giant cam (probably)
Eagle forged rotating assembly /w Arias .030 pistons
What heads?
Ported fast 92/92 setup
All new fuel system
Double roller timing chain
LS6 ported oil pump
Harland 1.7 rockers
LS7 lifters w/ pushrods
I want around 540RWHP and around 500RWTQ.. Now I want this car Very streetable. I don't want it stalling on me or anything like that (it's a m6).. This car is not my only transportation, but I do drive it daily.. And what CR should I be looking at running?
My advantage is my Uncle and Grandpa run a Custom Engine shop here and they can get parts 25%-30% cheaper than I can off TSP or anything like that with all the Porting and Polishing capability with their shop's machines. Also I will get free labor on putting it all together the professional way...
So what heads?
Here are the heads I have been looking at. Anything else is possible....

Will these work on a 6.0L iron block out of a 02 chevy 3/4ton??
Trick Flow 235cc runners/70cc chambers

Ported L92's would be my choice for a 408ci. But you may not reach 540 RWHP, but you'll get close. There's a bunch of 416ci's with L92 heads and L76 intakes putting down 520-530 RWHP, with medium, very streetable cams through M6's.
Good porters are getting 365 cfm out of the L92's.

Thanks for the info.. I just want the best HP/TQ heads I can put on this 408.. If I am going to spend $2,000-3,000 dollars on something, I am not going to get So-So heads.. Just trying to find the best for what I am using them for.

I guess you could go with the best heads out there, but you probably won't make any more power with them until you have more cubes or alot more rpm's. Its like putting a FAST 90mm intake and LS7 ported heads on a stock cube engine.

I'm no expert, but I think with the whole "weak link" thoery, your weak link will soon become your cubic inches. The LS7's and the All Pros and the TFS 235's are probably too much for a 408ci and just overkill. Ported L92's that flow in the 360's @ .650 are probably perfect for your engine size and the FAST 92/92.

Is there any gains to be had with L92 heads and a L76 intake, over AFR's and a Fast 92/92?? I know which is more expensive, I want to know which will make more HP/TQ.. (Keep in mine my uncle has been Porting heads for 50 years, and could port a intake)

Definatly a set of trickflow 235's would be nice up on that motor....vriginia speed put them on a customers car on a 02 Camaro with I think it was a 408 stroker 6.0L Truck motor the car was making a little over 500 before it ran out of injector at 4,400 rpm for there was still room for gains
