Hello all, I just recieved a porter cable polisher for christmas. I plugged it in just to make sure it would work. To me it sounds really rough sounding. I thought it would sound just like an angle grinder but doesn't. Just wondering if someone can chime in a verify that this may be correct. Thank you!

dont know what noise you are talking about but they dont sound like an angle grinder. Probably normal, look at some of the detailing sites and watch a how to video and you will be able to tell how it is supposed to sound..

wont sound like an angle grinder due to the "Dual Action" that a PC provides. Should kinda whir, like somethings out of balance (which in a way, it is)

I think a Whir noise is a good description, and it should vibrate pretty good. Have fun!

lol, I made a thread about the same situation kind of. Mine does it too, it should be normal. It almost sounds like a grindy whir.

It probly is normal. It just isn't smooth sounding like I expected. I guess more of a hammer drill sound but doesn't feel that rough. LOL I will have to wait for warmer weather to use it but I'm excited. Thanks

Mine does the exact same thing. On mine, it's the black, plastic cover that's rattling against itself. If I apply pressure to it, it sounds smooth.
