i have some 285/40......i heard thats the biggest u can put on..others put on 315's..but i will put 315's only on a 11'' rim

265/40/17, 275/40/17, 285/40/17.

For your best selection and price, go with the 275!

Myself I would go with the widest tire for a 9.5" wide wheel, which is the 285!

And for some strange reason if you need/want a slightly shorter/narrower tire you've got the 265.
