I have a 402 on a 225 and the gm head bolts are holding up fine.

ARP bolts are more than fine. That being said, I would go studs.

I went studs. Glad I did since I had to tear mine down recently, don't need to worry about dyring out the bolt holes now (of course I also need to get a new block, but that is beside the point).

Studs all the way, I have them and will never go back to bolts. Save a lot of time with cleanup and have a better clamping area

Another vote for studs. You'll be glad you did in the future.

The arp bolts are fine, but studs are better if you pull the heads very offen.

...if you plan to take your heads off more than once, I recommend studs all the way...you'll definitely appreciate them ....I've stripped more bolts than I care to remember...studs are definitely worth the extra $100 ....

I have had the bolts and I see the advantages of the studs but honestly save yourself the cash to use elsewhere and suck out the coolant with a shop vac before removing the heads I've done it twice now and both times it comes off bone dry.
