Default 40 mm offset C6 Z06 wheel pic on 1998 Trans Am

40 mm offset C6 Z06 replica all around 18 x 9.5
NO SPACERS
275/35R18 Bridgestone RE960AS Pole Position tires all around
Tires, wheels, mounting from www.wheelconcepts.com (great people and good overall price)

These tires are a marvel in quietness for given width.

Suspension is SLP Eibach-Bilstein (lower about 0.75 inches)

Fender well gap looks OE-ish. Could lower more but it is acceptable. Sunlight angle and shading cuts off some tire height and adds perceived gap in this picture.

Tramming effect is minimal (no difference than OEM 16 inch rim)
On-center feel is noticably more vague, but on the plus-side for me lighter.

No wheel rub whatsoever of opposite lock on both directions.
Tires tuck just inboard of fender at the top of the tire.

Nice. I was looking at those recently in that offset but I would probably go with the dark grey one's. Thanks for sharing the pic.

with stock 16 wheels/Dunlop Sport A2 tires: at first very firm and jittery, then the dampers settled and the ride / handling compromise was excellent but clearly firmer than stock. Rebound damping is much higher than stock and it makes the car feel heavier; the car gets pulled down more quickly when it dips like the dip after exiting a bridge overpass near my home. Beautifully controlled on medium dips at high speed. I'd imagine the setup with 17" GM f-body wheel/tire sizes would be great too. It's what the car would ride had AMG taken the f-body suspension and recalibrated it.

with current wheel/tire combo: highway ride on concrete is very nervous and jittery. Patchy surfaces are also uncomfortable. These penalties are due to the thinner sidewall height. I cannot imagine the penalty going with a wilder suspension setup. I'd recommend 40 series tires of this width and a speedometer recal when using this suspension and 18" rims.

More pics. One person in my office building thought I got a new car after the rim change.
