Default LS6 donor into my 98 six speed

I may be picking up a ls6 motor out of a wrecked ZO6. It would cost me $800 for the complete motor. I don't yet have the details as to the specific year the motor is out of but I assume it is a 02. How involved is this swap. I know that I would need an F-body intake but what about the computer. Can I send my 98 CPU out for programming or do I need a newer model. Also, what are complete LS1 motors going for these days?

...there aren't any VINs on engine blocks anymore; right?...

Everything should bolt right up....the engine oil pan in a F-body and Vette are different, however...so is the throttle body...just use the f-body stuff...

F-body computer should work OK...

While your at it, swap the cam and springs...

I know the price is low, I have a buddy that works in a salvage yard and he gets an employee discount on all parts. So, I need to switch the oil pan as well as the intake and throttle body. I thought about doing a cam if I can get enough for my complete motor. We'll see.

Adrian, you need to switch:

oil pain
throttle setup
all the brackets

If you put it in it will run no problem but you may want to dyno it and optimize the power.

$800 for a complete longlock S06 is a super deal.

You could also try to flip it and make about $3000 on it.

Wrong.... There is a derivative vin laser inscribed on the flange just above the oil filter next to the alignment pin for the trans. With that any GM dealer can tell you the exact car it came out of. Along with any warranty, or recall work that was performed on the car. good find by the way..... you could sell your current LS1 for more than that.
