hedman 1 5/8 step to 1 3/4 go to 1 7/8 worth it
I'm H/C/I and have Hedman 1 5/8 step to 1 3/4 headers..Ive been thinking of going with a 1 7/8 header..How much of a gain do you think it will be? I know in the future with bigger cubes it will show more, but on a 346 how much more will I gain over what I have now..
thanks
john
thanks

i dunno as i have these too and was wondering the same thing even though i dont have heads yet. they are supposed to produce better torque with the stepped design.

What car is this going on? F-body or Y-body (or other)?
FWIW, I'm going from Kooks 1-3/4" to Kooks 1-7/8" since I plan on going with a larger engine in the future. I'm expecting a little loss in throttle response down low, but who knows...I'll find out here in a few months once it warms up and I get them on. They'll be going on a bolt-on only LS1, so they probably won't be ideal.

You probably will lose a little down low, but I would guess that you would gain some hp up top. TSP did a test on an engine dyno comparing 1-3/4" headers to 1-7/8" headers on a mostly stock LS1 and the 1-7/8" ones made quite a bit more power.

So your dayton too huh lol? most of the threads I read showed no loss down low and gaind up top over a 1 3/4 header, but being as mine start as 1 5/8 I wonder how much it will be
actually have them installed but did it at the same time I put in my bigger stall(5c from circle d)so cant really tell but either way I'm sure it will help out when I step up in cubes..

ok, gears are not gonna hurt power on a dyno. nor make the car gain power on a dyno.
i have installed 1 3/4 headers on one car (2002) and 1 7/8 on another car
(2002) both cars were six speeds with the same modifications. the car with 1 3/4 headers made 15 more rwhp.
thats just my experience with header sizes, but to each is own. everyone has an opinion.

there is a post on the dyno section about it now...This is my first hand experience with my gear swap..If you did not lose anything when you swapped thats great but in the thread you'll see that people have lost some
