Default I want to break something

Well, not really, but I want some more power.

I want to do a cam change, I really like the TR230 and after an extensive search, I have found nothing but great comments and reviews of the cam. Before I purchase, I would like to ask you guys if you agree or is there another option you would suggest.

I have higher mileage so I am going to do the lifters at the same time (I believe they are making noise also). Upon doing this, do you think I should change the heads? I want to keep the cost down. If I change the heads, I would most likely just pick up a set of used 243's for 5-600. Is the performance advantage worth the extra money?

My mods are as follows:

Lid, ported TB
Full exhaust: LT's, Y-pipe, cat-back
Yank SS4000 stall
3.42 gear (May go with a 3.73 down the road)

what heads are on there now? While you have them off might as well put something better on. You can find used ones for decent money or your not that far from a set of new Patriots at $600 budget

I have stock 241's on there now. On the stock engine, I'm putting 320 HP and 321 TQ to the rear wheels. If anything, I would like to stay with the stock heads to save the extra coin and the fact I have had no issues with them, but If I'm going to gain a significant amount by changing the heads, I may go that route.

I am currently rebuilding my motor and I'm going to run the tr230 and stock 243s. The heads have been milled to 58cc chambers and they have patriot dual springs but other than that they are stock. I am also on a tight budget and after alot of reading I think this will be a great setup for my street/strip car.

Get a good VJ on the heads and throw some .04 gaskets on there, Itll bump the torque and get you some nice Hp from the VJ

Keep the current heads, or go with a set of good heads. Everyones defination of "good results" is going to be different. Dyno numbers dont always equate to speed so your going to get a whole host of opinions.
IMO save your money for "good" heads.

I should mention I bought the heads already milled and with springs for $410 in the classified section. I spent $100 to have them checked for cracks and flatness. I suppose if you bought everything new it might not be worth the money.
