Default Finally popped my cherry!

Well over the last week a friend of mine (BIGFTRUCK) and I managed to install a MS3 and 5.3 prc head combo with all the extras like oil pump double timing chain, etc. We also converted a 01 z28 from a t-56 to a th400. So far both cars are working well but we are waiting for better weather to beat on them some more.
Now keep in mind that we are pretty much completely new to wrenching on cars other then oil changes and some small **** here and there. We did both installs from information on here and ls1howto.com. Not to mention that Matt from Texas Speed made sure we had all the right parts and got the order right out.
I do have to say there is something to said about converting to the th400. I bought the speed (CAT RACING) flexplate and it needed a little modifying as well as the Yank tranny mount needed persuasion also but eventually fit. But when we were finished there was nothing sweeter then hearing his (BIGFTRUCK) Z28 thump the ground and my Z stall up and take off!

I wouldn't be to scared of it, I think you will need help getting the new heads on and pulling your radiator. One thing I would strongly recommend is getting APR head bolts that way you will have specific torque # to go to rather then stretching the GM ones- pain in the ***!

^ Or the studs and not have to worry about the weird torque sequence of the ARP bolts, never having to clean the bolt holes again, and the better clamping force.

Congrats on doing it all yourself. That's a large step for never having done anything like this before.

^^^ You just got to get over that hump- its really not that hard. We literally printed of the instruction's from ls1howto.com and went knuckle deep. It was that simple.

yeah I know I read the instructions last night and it really doesnt seem that hard. I'm pretty good with mechanical stuff, I've done all the boltons on my car.
