Default Patriot 226/226 cam with Comp 918's?

A friend of mine has a Patriot 226/226 585/585 on a 112LSA cam for his 2001 Trans Am but is wondering whether Comp 918 springs would work OK or if he actually needs the Patriot Gold dual springs. Opinions? I ran the Gold's on my 98 but I don't know whether they are necessary or not. Thanks

918's are fine with that cam, assuming they are the one's that don't break.

I've pushed 918's up to .615 lift before, they held fine all the way up to 10,000 miles when they were changed out.
