Default question about thermostat on an 04 or 05 ls1 motor

My car had a new engine installed in it at the dealer back in 2005. I figured it was the same as the 2002 ls1 that came in it but I already found out that I was wrong. It takes the later model head bolt. I found that out the hard way when I bought my head studs and then had to get another set of the later model ones like the ls2 uses. I want to order a 160 thermostat but don't know which one to get and I don't want to order the wrong one. I know the later ls engine came with a different water pump where the thermostat wasn't made into the housing. Any one know which one I would need?

IIRC, 1997 to 2004 had a one-piece t'stat/housing, the 2005+ units had a removeable t'stat like the Gen I & II smallblocks...

It sounds to me like you have an LS2 thermostat like I have on my LS6. The good news is that they are less expensive than the ones for the original LS1 engines.
