Gt500, how close am I to kicking it's ***!?
Hi there, I don't know where exactly this "bench racing" forum is so I figured i'd post here and risk the back lash. Just wondering how a car like mine would stack up against a shelby? What does it take to beat one on the street from a dig? How close am I right now? I heard that these cars are actually a little slower than a termi.

i dont know, my brother in law has one and bone stock they aren't much. i think a cammed full exhaust m6 with a good driver and some nice rubber might take one. they are heavy and with so much torque they are hard to launch. and the bench racing section is a bitch to find, its a sub section in the racers lounge

They are usually faster than an 03-04 Cobra, although not many guys are driving them to full potential. Your car may be a little quicker if you take t-tops, leather, tint, and ipod out of your sig lol. jk

they usually only have around 50 more rwhp than a stock terminator. . . and they weigh a couple hundred lbs more . . . so yea, a terminator is usually faster stock for stock . . . they even tested them with two drivers, then switched them, and the terminator was still victorious in the 1/4, it was around a tenth faster both times . . .
but as for your A4 stock firehawk. . . I don't think u stand much of a chance. . . you could prob hang with a bad driver for about 1/8th mile tops

like i said in the bench racing section, you will at least need a large cam, bigger stall, and gears at minumum. i would think more and im sure most others would agree, so in short, you've got a long way to go to beat one. especially if its from a roll being SC cars have a much more broad powerband that begins much earlier in the RPM range.

my car with full boltons minus stock gears and non-ls6 intake i beat one....about 5 highway rolls i held him off by a car each time and im an A4 but i switch with the 1-2-3-D instead of letting it do it by itself because it takes to long to downshift. but as for your mods i think the GT500 will have you until you get some LT's and a tune then youll be fine dont let people hype the GT500 up when its stock.. i have 3 friends with 03 cobras and a friend with a steeda GT500 and the terminators have always pulled the GT500 even when putting one of the terminator drivers in the GT500.
heres my run with the GT500....http://videos.streetfire.net/video/W...500_176261.htm
people said i jumped him on the last one but on the races we didnt film he never could pull on me at all

It's gonna come down to what kind of driver the Shelby has. Alot of these guys bought those cars just to cruise around in and look hot ****, so consequently they aren't exactly acclimated to getting the best performance out of their ride. You'd probably stand the best chance from a dig, where the Shelby's 500hp and manual tranny make getting a good launch alot trickier. Takes alot of practice to launch a heavy car with that kind of power with a clutch and stick.
As said before, the GT500's are pretty gutsy in their own right....but they are a pale shadow of their potential in stock form. The conservative factory tune and so-so factory tires don't do them any favors. Find one with a less than stellar driver and it's easy to make a good race out of it if you're on top of your game. But I'd avoid doing a race from a roll until you've got some mods worked out. All the Shelby driver has to do is be in the right gear and not miss a shift to make it ugly.
Happy hunting.
