Default Clanking sound on cold start...no, not lifters

I have this issue where I'll cold start my car and get driving...about a minute or so of driving, I'll hear this clanking sound under my car for like 5 seconds at a time...it'll do it like 3, maybe 4 times...about 10-20 seconds between each time it does it. Once fully warmed up, it doesn't make the sound anymore. Anyone experience this? No, this is not the common lifter sound everyone gets. I get that one too..

My car seems to perform great otherwise. It's just really annoying that I'll drive by someone and they'll hear the clanking \ rattly sound as my car drives by...not very sexy.

Just a guess: When I first bought my '06, it had a clanking noise once in awhile. Took it in and the dealer found an exhaust shield under the car (I assume the shield between the cat and the underside of the car) was loose so they re-attached it and I haven't heard a peep out of it since. I wonder if your heat shield is loose and the hot exhaust vs the cold shield is enough to cause a noise till the temps equal out. My two cents.

crawl under your car to see if anything is loose.
