Default 4000 pulse or 8000 pulse/mile

I'm confused, a year ago I followed a thread to Dakota digital for a GM pass thru 8k pulse generator SEN-01-4160).I bought that but now I see a thread that lists in connector C100 a wire to go to a 4000Pulse VSS. I have a 2004 LM4 5.3 with a harness and computor from a 2005 Silverado 5.3. What do I REALLY need. This is going in a 65 Vette with a Muncie 4sp. Any help would be appreciated.

You can use a 4K or an 8K pulse VSS as long as the pcm is tuned for the VSS output. Just make sure it's a two wire VSS so it sends the correct type of signal.

Thanks for the info. The ecm will need some stuff removed anyway so I'll let the tuner know what I have for VSS.

What is he going to use to tune it? Early last year, when I checked, EFILive would only go down to 10 pulse per rev, while HP Tuners would go all the way to zero. EFI may have updated by now.
