Default new gauge, oil pressure questions.

I'm sure this topic has been rehashed many many times, i just need some advice.

I put auto meter gauges in my conversion. For 2 years i had the stock ls1 sending unit hooked to the 1980's gauge, and it always read 30-40 psi. I was unsure if this reading was accurate or not, but the motor always ran fine.

With the autometer gauge and sending unit now in the block, i started it up and it said 25-30 psi, on a cold start. I was dissapointed.

So my question is, is that oil pressure ok? also i had to use an extension and a 90 degree bend to get the sender to fit, is it possible that air is trapped and throwing the pressure reading off some?

Thanks for your help guys.

here's the specs from GM

Oil Pressure (Minimum - Hot):
1,000 RPM = 41 kPa / 6 psig
2,000 RPM = 124 kPa / 18 psig
4,000 RPM = 165 KPa / 24 psig

I'll see what pressures i have when its hot, Still though will air affect the pressure readings at the sensor? if it will i can bleed it enough to get the air out and see what it does.

I just wish it was higher, the motor has less than 40K on it so i thought it would be higher. you know?

also I'm running mobile one oil (5-W30)and filter, I might switch to a wix filter and another oil (10-W30) thoughts?

chances of having air in the system are slim to none, where is the sending unit located ?
