Default will my insurance try to screw me?

I rear ended a person at a parking lot. There car was a really old LTD, so it was like hitting a tank at 6mph. I need a new hood and some paint work. I'm guessing based on other body work I've had, its gonna cost at least 3500 - 4000. My insurance company told me to bring the car to there appraiser office, then they will issue me payment instructions. I am allowed to bring it to any body shop for the actual repairs, but what if they try to lowball the price during appraisal? My car was mint and I want it back that way

Go get an estimate from wherever you want to take the car first. They are free. That way you will know. And if they try and pull the wool over your eyes, throw a **** fit.

Take the car to the body shop were you want it fixed, leave it there, and have the insurance company go out to the shop. The shop and the ins co will negotiate it there that way it saves you time from having to go back and forth and it minimizes the likelihood of getting screwed.

Im a insurance adjuster, feel free to ask any questions.

^ yea, Pretty much. In CT you have that right. Most GOOD insurance companies do have recommended shops. My companies guarrentee is if the repair work doesnt come out well, its guarrenteed for the life of the car.

The sad part is I bet he had no real damage on the LTD

True that lol. The LTD had a tiny little dent not even worth fixing ( as the entire car was a giant POS ready to die ). My car on the other hand needs a new hood and front bumper : \ Lucky I was only going 5mph LOL!

Find a body shop that does great work. Take it to them and have the insurance bill them directly. That is what I did.
