WS6 LT1 vs. 500 S mustang (2008 ?)
I decided to drive the car today for the first time in months. Drove about 1 mile and immediatley attracted the attention of a black mustang (2008 ?) 500 S. Never seen one of these cars, but the driver was ready to break me off sumpin, sumpin I cracked the exhaust real quick to let him know I was game, and then it got real good with all the mental posturing between a Ford and a Pontiac It was almost comical the way he was looking at me like it was going to be a bad day for the LT1; although, I was not entirely sure what was under the hood of this newer Mustang ?
Start rolling my passenger window down and he tells me to count to three and hit it. Note to self " this guy is very sure about his new PONY " So, 1,2,3 BANG ! The LT1 decides it's time to get down to business, by the top of first (6,100) I already had him at my rear bumper. Cracked 2nd and started to literally pull a train, smashed third and just got out of it. It was a straight murda ! I slow down and the guy pulls up next to me and gives me the look like "what just happened" and then proceeded to give me the thumbs up. He said it was only mildly modified (which I believe) with Magn-flo side exit exhaust, cold air shaker kit and headers. He thought the car was making around 350 flywheel (I would agree with those mods). I responded with " You have a nice looking car " and gave him a thumbs up.
Drove home and looked up the 500S and found out that with his mods he was probably making in the 310 rwhp and 330 rwtq range. So, it looks like it a decent little package, but the pricing is a little excessive for all the upgrades he had on the car ( JMO ). Hope you enjoyed the small and brief story

The Pony Package goes on the V6, and the California Special Package goes on the GT. Anything else is either dealer, aftermarket, or tuner supplied.

isn't there another shelby or cobra or something that's not supercharged that is sold through all dealers?
there's also the california special and tons of other random little packages sold through dealers...might not be completely made by ford but whatever...point is the dealership always has about 5 flavors on the lot if not more

It didn't work. No one cares. Mustang owners are all butthurt because they own one of 40783 varieties of Mustangs made in a given year.
BUT OMG LOOK U GUYZ HAVE TEH WS6, TRANS AM, FORMULA, FIREHAWK, FIREBIRD...
So it's 5 to 40783... not very close. If there were one thing I would ever expect a Mustang owner to concede, it's that there are way too many types of them, regardless of where it came from. I was wrong for expecting this.

Nice kill OP.
In addtition to what TRmach stated, there is the Shelby GT and Bullit.
Anything else is dealer modified, or aftermarket/tuner, like he stated (such as saleen, Roush, etc.)

HOWEVER, I do agree that there are WAY Too many. I don't mind the Saleen and Roush to go along with the factory releases, but Foose and Dealer BS needs to stop. It only breeds ignorance. People actually believe the GT300 is something special.

I said 'non factory'........
I'd get the WS6 cause I love the way they look.......but, if it's not factory, saleen, or roush (unless I'm forgetting one), then YUCK!!!. Dealers need to stop with their BS.
Haha.. not at all. A long day, but all in all a good day. Some of the packages like the Saleen and Roush are very nice, but like you said.. the GT300.. who needs that? There are a lot of packages that are nothing more than a badge and minor cosmetics.. similar to a WS6. Only a retard would spring the extra cash for something like that.

I wonder how many different models of this new Camaro we'll see. I already saw one all done up like Mark Donahue's old Trans Am racer, and the car hasn't even gone on sale yet!
