Default New Style PCV

I picked up the newer style of PCV valve for 98-02 LS1's The main difference is that the hole on the bottom side is smaller and there is no check ball in it like the older style. Is there supposed to be a check ball in it or is the PCV the correct one? PN and everything match just don't know if the ball was left out by mistake or is it right?

The updated PCV just has a tiny hole in it and no check ball.

This bandaid fix turns your PCV system into a fixed orifice system instead of a variable orifice system. It's just an empty 'can' with a small hole in it.
