Default Converter Problems???

Three weaks ago I had a TCI 3500 ssf installed at the shop I work at. Maybe its just because this is my first stalled A4 thats making me a little paranoid. The car will absolutely melt the tires from a dead stop now, but to me it feels like it lays down on the top end compared to before the converter. This is not a major difference, just enough to make me wonder. I cant say for sure that its slower since I havent been to the track. Also, sometimes the car will hunt for idle after letting off the gas. These two things dont really bother me all that bad, I'm just wondering if I need to start looking for a problem.
Any input will be appreciated.

The erratic idle is fairly normal.

The car "laying down" on top is because higher stall converters generally don't have the efficieny up top that a lower stall converter does. Some brands are better than others for top end efficiency.

You should still see better 1/4 times though. What you loose in top end you more than make up for in the launch and shift extentions.

I would take it to the track. Im betting not only your 60 ft is better but your mph is the same as before or better. Just make sure you have a set of nittos on that puppy or it will be spin city all day. Good luck with the converter.

Thanks for the reply guys. I was kinda thinking it could be the lower efficiency but wanted to here it from someone a little more experienced than I am. I definately need some Nittos. Hopefully have some 315's by spring racing season. The poor little 245 kdws's dont stand a chance.

It may pull so much harder down low that it makes the top-end seem weaker. In reality, you may be just a fast. Track is the best place to test it out.

I payed a little more attention to the speedo today instead of the old "butt-O-meter" It seems to get up to speed as fast or faster than it ever did. I think whats throwing me off the most is the shift extentions. Without the big drop in rpms after the shift its hard for me to guage whats going on because it really doesnt stop pulling. Anyways, thanks for your replys guys. I think I'm starting to understand this whole converter thing a little better.
