Default Home depot catch can

Alright I finnally went out and got one but I went to Harbor Frieght and bought a mini air filter for a compressor.

http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/cta...emnumber=94346

I have not put it on yet because when I blow through the in side of the filter and plug the outside air comes out of the bottom when I unplug to outside it come out of both. You have to pull the drain on the bottom out for it to seal and no air to come out when you blow in it, so does it seal when its pressurized and if so won't it leak oil when the car is off? Is this right or did I buy the wrong type of filter. Thanks

Just to add, When I pressurize the filter the drain pops out and seals but once air is released it opens back up.

The drain pin on the bottom is spring loaded. No air should come out unless you are pushing it in. If it does, you have a defective one. The one is use is the Cambell Hausfeld one. Same idea as yours. I use it without the little filter inside and it works great. The filter will become clogged with oil quickly. When it does toss it out and dont replace it.

The one I got only seals when I pull the pin on the bottom out or when I hook it to my compressor and the air forces it out. Any way to fix that?

Take it back. I bought one of those is it can't work. Just go to autozone and get a Campbell hausfeld for $10-15 bucks.

What if I move the spring to the outside, I did it and it seems to seal just not sure if it is okay or not?
