TSP 408 iron block .. best bang for the buck ??
im looking into getting a stroker short block for a z28 i have with rod knock .. it looks like its gona be about 3800 shipped for the 408 iron block . is there any better deals out there for a complete short block ??
or would it be easier for me to purchase iron block and rotating asembly separate and have them machined balanced and asembled at a local machine shop ???
$3800 is a very fair price .. just looking to maybe save a few bucks .. times are ruff now and days !~! lol ..
texas speed let me knw what u guys suggest just looking for a 408 to spray 150-200 shots and have it runs reliably for a good while i.e wich pistons rods to go with ..!! thanks i bought a forged 347 a while back from u guys ! thanks !

i bought a block for 250. assembly i want is all forged from tsp and is about 2200 with good bearings. And labor for the balance plus machine and acid dip is about 1300. So u could do it cheaper but probably not that much cheaper. you should get the ls3 427 shortblock. I think it is only 4100 or 4200 i'm starting to lean that way simply because i dont plan on ever making more than 700-750 flywheel horse. that iron is good for a lot more though, about 1500hp safely

We have built several 408 long blocks into the 650+flywheel horespower range. We recently finished a 418 LS3 with PRC 237cc heads that made just under 680 flywheel horsepower!
With over 40 short-blocks in stock, I bet we have a setup that will work well in your application! Give us a call if we can help!!
