Default hookers to 1/78 headers worth 408 gain?

I'm finishing my 408 and had a buddy say the gains could be 20hp going to a
1 7/8 headers from my LT hookers. He said great for stock cubes but with the 1 7/8 headers could see some nice gains. I just reached a point I don't want to spend more.

Thinking about the Texas speed 1 7/8 headers...

IDK about 20rwhp but a good 10 n/a would be more reasonable

"could" is the operative word. You might see a gain, you might not see any gain or maybe even a loss. I think the exhaust gas velocity is the key as to what gains you will see. With a larger tube your exhaust gases will slow down and the key is will that help you, hurt you or have no effect.

Thanks guys.

GTA I think your right if I were a stock cube Ls1. But at a 408 there's much more air being pushed. I'm just trying to see if the gain is worth it $...

It would likely move you power band a little higher too. Based on your mods, probly not an issue, but worth mentioning.

Buy them, sell current headers, take the loss in your wallet, and the gain on the dyno. 10-20 rwhp shouldn't be out of the question, especially with the 408.

You are correct with the 408. My mistake.
