Help my ID Transbrake manufacturer
Can some one tell me how to identify the manufacturer /builder of a trans-brake VB.
I bought a used TH350 with a transbrake, and I need to rebuild the tranny, but need to know who built the transbrake so I know what modifications needs to be performed. It seems every builder has there on instructions and they are all different.
Thanks,
Rick

OK, give me a minute, but it is a GM valve body, figured they all look the same..
Just need to know if the stamp them some where in order to ID them.
Let me try to get some pics, but be warned my camera sucks as*..

+1 on that info^^^^^ If it says JW.....I think we have a winner. Looks like a good piece if I had to guess. The separator plate I'm sure is apart of the kit. I have a few Coan pieces at the shop I will have to match them up to this valve body to see if it is the same. Vince

That is a copy of all the other 350 stuff out there,EXCLUDING mine.Ill give you a tip, though.Block the hi feed at the case where it goes into the reverse side of the case at the pump face or youll have a real long 2/3 upshift.

So chris do you suspect it is a copy of a JW brake?

Being that it has JW stamped on it I would have to think it comes from JW. Why would TCI sell a product and put the JW on it? I think you got some bad info on the manufacture of the brake. I would contact JW with the info you have with the markings. I bet that the numbers have to do with a serial number or a production date. Vince

JW makes good stuff, so there is not an issue with using that VB. IMO JW stuff is probably in general better quality than TCI.
I think Chris is talking about the seperatore plate. It looks like it still has a reverse orifice in the plate.
When you do the dual feed to the drum, in 3rd gear it backfeeds the fluid through the reverse passage, through the plate, it pisses it out at the manual valve. This plate appears to still have the hole that allows it to **** out. It's a very small hole but will cause some fluid loss. It may be left there to allow air to bleed out quicker in the case of a drum not being drilled.
I prefer to block the hole in the case anyway because it requires less fluid to fill the circuit on the 2-3 shift, and the drum should be drilled anyway to prevent high rpm 1st gear centrifugal apply of the directs.

And where is the hole you guys are talking about plugging?
Thanks
