Default Milling unported heads

I have a pair of stock 243s going on my car. The one head has a small blemish on it from a staple scratching it and needs to be shaved a little bit. What I'm wondering is would it be worth it to mill them a little more than what was needed to clean them up? I know guys with ported heads usually have them milled and they work great but I've heard mixed opinions about unported heads being milled.
