Default My boots leak

During my last TC & transmission install I took care of all my little seepage/leaks on the car except one. I replaced the PS pump and all hoses as well, but I still have wet boots on my steering rack, both sides with occasional pop/click sounds on turns. Could this just be inner tie rods or the whole rack? It doesn't really seem to lose much fluid. car has 120k miles.

Most likely is your steering gear itself; or a line nearby.

Yeah the gear is what i was thinking. When I removed the tranny I also disconnected the drivers side motor mount and flipped the bolt on the rack on that side so it will be easy to get out if I need to. It doesn't seem to be a serious problem yet...

The 'boots leak' thing made me think of that kids excuse letter (real) in the book "Anguished English":

"Please excuse Tommy for being absent yesterday. He had diarrhea and his boots leak."
