Default Traction New Vs. Old

On my car now I have the stock chrome 16" wheels and the tires are not the right size, they're insanely tall the size is 235/60/16 traction aa. I'm looking at a set of replica 17" c5 wheels with 275 40's traction a on them... I know the 17's are wider but the wheels definetly weigh a lot less and the tires are a much smaller profile and the traction rating isnt too great on these. My question is will the traction on the new ones be leaps and bounds ahead of the old ones, worse, or abt the same? Both tire sets are in fairy good shape not bald at all.
Thanks Dan-

i guess you mean these? if so then yea the car felt better in turns after the rims. go with a 285 or 295 rather than the 275 in the rear for the added traction. i didnt notice any weight difference between the 16s and 17s, but maybe im weird. overall not many differences, but worth the money

There is a marked and noticeable improvement going from a 235 width tire to a 275 width one. Other factors are tire compound, tire pattern, weight, and sidewall height.

I have the v6 in mine soo idk if I need the 285 like you guys do especially if u all pack the t56. But right now 235's 3.42's and posi arent giving me too much traction its fun and all but sometimes id like to go from a stop or nail it from a turn... Thats why I was considering new wheels I can pick up a set of c5 near me like the ones above with good 275's on em for about $300.

Lets start with what kind of tires you have now? a decent 275 tire would be plenty for that car

When I got the car it had fuzion 245/50/16 they werent the greatest especially in rain and now theres 235/60/16 is whats on there now theyre kuhmo ecsta aa traction a temp and they suck on the traction side theyre not even that worn out i just found the c5 wheels with 275's on em which I think is about good for the car no need for bigger and the c5 wheels look sick too.

Do you ever drag it? Maybe you just need a better street tire.
