Question about O2 sensors...
I have a '98 Z28 with almost 94k miles. I'm not sure if I need to replace the O2 sensors or not. The car runs very strong and never gives me any problems. Gas mileage isn't great, but with the way I drive I'm not surprised.
Anyway, when I bought the car a few months ago, the previous owner told me that the "passenger side o2 sensor needs replaced" but he never bothered to replace it because the car still ran fine regardless. The car has been dynotuned and the o2 code was tuned out, the car runs very strong and the SES light never comes on. The car does have longtubes, not sure if it matters in this instance or not.
I'm wondering if I should even bother replacing them, knowing that the passenger side o2 is bad. Would it even make a difference? It doesn't seem to be affecting anything.

If you had a bad 02 sensor you would know it, the engine would run HORRIBLY. I had one fail 2 months ago and the engine ran like hell and would not stay on at a stop light. I had to keep pedaling it to keep it running. It stumbled badly under acceleration too.
If you want to, go get a scan to see if the sensors are switching properly. Either they work or they don't usually, but you can also have a failing sensor. But like I said, you would know it FOR SURE.
And you need to get scanned by a real OBDII scanner like the dealerships use, not the orange little ones at auto parts stores.
ALSO.....a bad 02 sensor will NOT always give you an SES light.
