Default Post up your rears!

I've finally made a good sales pitch to the wife and I've been granted an allowance. I'm doing my research before I dive into this. My car is a weekend warrior/drag car. I plan on getting a spooled, 35 spline, nodular iron cased 9", undecided on the gears, but I'm running a 28" tire. I'm a turbo car, so if you have any advice on the gears let me know. I run mainly 1/8th mile, but I'd like to be able to take it to the 1/4 mile track.

Lets see your setups! Post the power that your making, 60', brand, feedback on the its performance, and price if you don't mind.

I'm using an M9 Moser and have no real complaints, if you dont have a good torque arm moved off the trans then buying the whole thing with their torque arm/trans crossmember isnt a bad deal. The rod end front is a bit harsh for street driving IMO. I have gone 1.33 60 foots so far on it (not really trying hard) and its probably 40lbs lighter than their regular 9" with another brand torque arm/trans crossmember.

But

I have gone 1.25-1.27 (best 1.23) 60 foots with a regular Moser 9 inch , random tech torque arm and BMR trans torque arm relocation bracket/trans crossmember. Its a bit more street friendly setup with the stock type bushing in the front and for exhaust clearance.

You will get 100000000 different answers on this, a 12 bolt is more efficient but I dont like farting around with rear ends. Put a 9" in and its done. As far as gear I used a 3.70 with 28" tires to go anywhere from 10.40s to 8.90s with the same car and its still streetable with a 3 speed auto, if you are going to keep your OD it depends what you plan on trapping fro MPH and rpm, dont want to shift into OD in the 1/4.

As far as pricing Bob at EPP has the all the Moser prices/options on his site. A rear end is a pretty simple piece and the engine/suspension/tuning is more important than who makes the housing - plenty of good ones out there. I have had very few issues with Moser and you cant beat getting it in a few days..

std moser 9" housing with backbrace option (narrowed 3.75" per side)
moser aluminum center + 35spline spool...assembled by yours truly
1200+ rwhp
1.36 60' so far

Bought this rear 2 yrs ago when I first started my turbo project...before all the fab stuff came out for the f-body...but I do like that I use a traditonal stock-style torque arm mount in the back...

kp, what spline axles are you running?

What kind of limits are on the 31 spline axles?

Let me know what you want. We build to order or can get a Moser. We match the EPP price on those. We can set you up with the rest of the rear suspension as well.

I need to know what to price as they all vary. Is it a street car, do you want brakes or a pro gear, what options can we include? We have tie downs, built in anti roll bar, wheelie ar brackets, and so on, Will it be narrowed?

All of ours have fill and drain, built in LCA relo brackets, and a back brace.

If you can also swing the little extra money I would get the axles gun drilled for reduced weight and added strength.

I'm in the market for a rear end right now and there are to many choices!! Midwest is looking like the best deal so far $3900 for everything which includes the custom driveshaft. You end up getting more for less than anywhere else I have seen so far. If you drive hard and have a 6 speed car dont waste your money on anything else just go 9"

At 3900.00 we are very competative. We also supply all of the rear ends to the major builders and racers on this board, as well as a lot of other race teams.
