Anybody have pics or writeup on aftermarket k-member installation?
I have access to a lift and I'm trying to figure out the simplest way to swap to a tubular k-member. Any tips or pics are appreciated. thanks!

Simplest way is to get the car up high on stands. Then use a cherry picker to hold up the engine while you pull the motor mount pins and drop out the k-member and front suspension (you'll have to undo the 6 k-member bolts and 8 shock tower bolts, undo the the front brake lines, remove the steering knuckle, unplug the wheel sensors). Once it is out, you have to swap all of the components to the new k-member and then reinstall it. It takes some time, but its not too difficult. I've only done it once, but the engine and trans were already dropped form the car.

I plan on doing this without dropping/pulling the motor as well. I would be interested to see a write up/get pictures as well to possibly save some time. The cherry picker is a good idea...another I have been toying with is making a strut tower bar assembly of some sort I can ratchet strap/hold the motor up with from the top and know it is secure without relying on hydraulic rams while I drop the stuff out the bottom and swap. I will eventually figure it out when the time comes...hopefully someone has pictures and a write up by then...:-p

IMO i'd just use the jack stand/cherry picker route, only I'd leave the upper strut mount intact as well as all the brakes, undo the two motor mounts, and the 6 K-member bolts, as well as the power steering rack. leaving as many things intact as possible, then drop the k-member and re-install the tubular one. If you're doing control arms as well, I'd either do those first or last, as it'll keep you from having to disassemble everything (ie. struts, brakes, and steering). but again just my opinion.
as for pics, it's been a few years since I've done one.....
