Default Intake help, 98 ls1 to ls6 intake swap

surfing around I keep stumbling across babling about needing some sort of bypass tubes when changing from a LS1 intake to an LS6 intake.

How much truth is there to this myth? I am getting ready to drop heads, cam, Weiand intake (LS6 mock), Oil pump, etc onto the car and this thought crossed my mind about the bypass tubes under the intake.

Please help me understand what other parts I need for this upgrade. Thanks.

That is a very detailed write up on swapping from an LS1 to an LS6 intake, the proper way to do it, and the parts needed.

I just knocked the fins off the bottom of the ls6 intake and removed the plastic clips off of the knock sensor wires, no coolant lines needed.

coolant lines are the "right" way to do it.

not sure if you can "cut the fins" off one of the alum intakes like you sometimes get away with on the LS6

tap the coolant lines down some to create clearance after you file the fins down.

on the new coolant bypass tubes. can you just connect the new front and rear tubes together instead of blocking the rear one?
