Cleaning clutch question....
So I've been taking my time with my clutch install, haven't got around to completing it yet, and I'm putting in a lightly used LS7 clutch. Is it okay to clean the actual clutch disk itself brake cleaner to make sure there are no oils or residues on it? If not what could I use to clean it?
I just want to be sure that there isn't something on it, whether it be oils off of someone's hands, etc that causes it to wear abnormally...

It is absolutley ok to clean your clutch disk and the entire assy. before you install it. Just spray it down with brake clean and use a lint free towel or shop rag to wipe off anything that dosent evaporate. Also spray the flywheel and presure plate. Good luck wit your install!

The material does not matter at all actually, Just like brake pads. Theres a ton of different compounds for pads and there ok. I have done this on The factory LS6 clutch disk,Ram 900/300 series, and the Quarter master Iron metallic disk im currently running with no issues what so ever.
