Default After new gears; gear oil change?

After new gears, should you change the gear oil and how long after install should you change it if so?

Run non synthetic 85/140 for break in, drain it after 500 miles, then run 80/90 after that.

I am running Lucas 85/140 now so I should be good. Thanks for the info.
