Default Engine Building help

Alright guys im going to need a motor for my car. I will either be a crate engine or build the Ls1. Both will be carbed, just because I like it and I know it better than EFI. My plans are to build a some what race car, but also street able, like a weekend warrior kinda of deal. So it has to have a good amount power.

So I guess what Im asking what would be all around better performance wise and cheaper. A crate motor or build the Ls1.

Crate motor? what a 572 or bigger, big money. I say stick with LS1 if you have one already 6-8K should yield very good power, or take that 6.0 iron block from your Yukon and spray the house down, if my ls1 ever blows I'm definitely replaceing it with the 6.0 iron block.

in that case it's a toss up, dart makes a 383 block ready for nitrous for next to nothing, umm I like the LS1 because its efi but you dont, if you want a stock sbc really cheap someone I work with is putting a dart block in his 67 camaro, he is selling the sbc that was in the car, dont know the miles or spec, let me know if you are interested.
